Veterans Memorial Park
Nestled in the corner of the Oval near Union Street, this delightful garden - home to Milford's World War II Memorial - is tended by MGC members. The club has been involved with the care of the Veterans Memorial Park since its inception. Throughout the years members have planted and maintained flowers, shrubs and trees to create a relaxing place to spend a sunny day.
Korean Garden
Situated on Elm Street, the Korean Memorial is seen daily by many people on their way to and from Milford. A lovingly cared for, long-term project of MGC member Geri Dickerman, club members now carry on the tradition of a bright spot of color to decorate this busy road.
Emerson Park
Emerson Park is a favorite of walkers and runners as well as host to concerts in the summer. For a number of years, MGC has worked closely with the Parks and Recreation Department to provide a lovely setting for these and other activities.
Colonel Shepard Bridge Plantings
The Colonel Shepard Bridge (Stone Bridge), spanning the Souhegan River, is a landmark in the town of Milford. The Milford Garden Club, in conjunction with DO-IT, plants and maintains the flower boxes on the bridge: colorful displays for summer, mums in the fall, and winter greens during the holiday season.
Memorial Day Plantings
Each year in observance of Memorial Day the club plants patriotic colors in the Korean War, WWII and Ricciardi memorials, as well as Riverside, Union Street and West Street Cemeteries.
Donations
In past years the club has provided an academic scholarship to a Milford High School senior pursuing an agriculturally related field of study, while Milford Middle School has received a donation to help send students to Environmental Camp. Other deserving community programs such as SHARE (photo below),
the Souhegan Valley Land Trust Purgatory Falls project (photo below),
SESL's high school courtyard renovation project, the new Souhegan Valley Boys and Girls Club nature playground, and the Butterfly Garden at Heron Pond Elementary School, have also received support.
